[Immediately prior to Elizabeth, Joseph Lefew was enumerated with a household of 6 free persons of color. Also Polly Leffew was enumerated a few lines later with a household of 4 free persons of color. It's clear that following the death of Stephen Lefew, the family was considered to be non-white. It appears that all such families were grouped together at the end of the census, rather than appearing with their neighbors.]
