bullet  Research Notes:

Sarah has been identified as the second wife of Thomas Majors for the following reasons: (1) she is identified as Sarah Majors in her father's will; (2) Henry Fuller gifted land to Thomas Majors in 1769; (3) the only other Thomas Major(s) in the vicinity was Thomas Major of Orange/Guilford County, North Carolina, later of Blount County, Tennessee, and his wife was named Ann; and (4) the 1795 deed by which my Thomas Majors sold his land in Washington County, Virginia identifies his wife as Sarah.

bullet  Birth Notes:

Although Kay's book has Sarah's date of birth as about 1747, there seems to be no documentation of that date. It would not surprise me if she was not in fact born earlier, sometime between when her parents married in 1738 and when her brother, William, was born in 1745.

2 Record of Wills, Inventories & Settlements of Estates, Caswell County, North Carolina, Book B, 1783-1792, FHL Film No. 18,418, Pages 341-343. The cited will of Henry Fuller named Sarah Majors as one of his children.

Majors, "The Peter and Thomas Majors Connection" (Unpublished memorandum, Wichita, Kansas, September 18, 1999, revised November 15, 1999), citing a 1795 Washington County, Virginia deed by Thomas Majors which idenitifies his wife as Sarah. Dr. Majors is a descendant of Peter Majors and Mary Slider as follows: Peter > Thomas > Peter J. > William > Alexander W. > William J. > Charles J. > Frank A. > Troy. Most of the primary research done on our Majors family was done by him. Although he is not active in genealogy anymore, he continues to serve as a mentor for the current generation of Majors researchers. His e-mail address is leica3f@bellsouth.net.

Kay's book provides rich detail, including sources, about this Fuller family, both in Maryland and in North Carolina. For anyone interested in learning more about this Fuller family, this is a must-have book. Note that Kay credits Rich and Pat Fuller of Baltimore for providing many of the sources for the information about the Fullers while in Baltimore County, Maryland. The primary sources in that regard are Baltimore County Families, 1659-1759 by Robert W. Barnes and St. John's and St. George's Parish Registers, 1696-1851 by Henry C. Peden, Jr.

6 Dr. Troy E. Majors, "The Peter and Thomas Majors Connection" (Unpublished memorandum, Wichita, Kansas, September 18, 1999, revised November 15, 1999), There does not seem to be any solid evidence as to when or where Sarah died. It is only known that no records of her appear after 1795, when she was identified as Thomas' wife in the sale of 153 acres in Washington County, Virginia.
