Chloe ARNWINE

Chloe ARNWINE
Research Notes: Chloe is believed to be the daughter of Daniel Arnwine. Research by Yvette Ramsdell <MySnowbird@aol.com> shows that Daniel in his Will left $100 to two people: a known daughter Roseane and a Clay Hopson. Minor bequests were also made to a nephew and his grandchildren, with his sons sharing the land. It seems very likely Clay Hopson was a misreading or a misspelling of the name, Chloe (Cloy?) Hopson. Noted events in her life were: 1. Census: 1850, Grainger County, Tennessee. 6 Chloe married John BOWERS, son of Andrew BOWER (Sr.) and Catherine, in Mar 1829 in Grainger County, Tennessee.1 2 3 (John BOWERS was born between 1790 and 1810 in Virginia 7 8 and died before Oct 1847 9.) Marriage Notes: Kennerly has: "Bowers, John [to] Cloe Arnwine, March 11, 1829. B. Andrew Bowers. Bond only." Fennel & Mason records the marriage the same way, except Cloe's name is spelled Arwine. The author has xerographic copies of the bond on record -- all that remains of the official records -- and it is dated 18 Mar 1929, it appearing that 11 may have been changed to 18. Both John and Andrew gave the bond, although only Andrew seems to have made his mark. The bond spells the bride's name as Chloe Arwine. Chloe next married William HOPSON on 26 Dec 1847 in Claiborne County, Tennessee.4 (William HOPSON was born about 1829 in Tennessee 6.) |
