The cited sources do not agree. Donnan has William's date of birth as 18 Sep 1872 and date of death as 16 Jan 1937, which according to the records of Ruth and Marjorie are the dates for James Madison Sharples, whom Donnan omits in the initial listing of children, although there is a later reference to him. Ruth has William's date of birth as 7 Oct 1870, while Marjorie has it as 17 Oct 1870. Marjorie's information has been used.

Donnan K. Hunter (as to William B. Sharples biography), Morgan County History Book, Page 353. Donnan was a son of Eliza Jane Sharples, so this would appear to be the earliest of the records for the family of William Bond Sharples and Nancy Margaret Strong.

Family Records of Ruth Winchell. Ruth Winchell was a granddaughter of Susan Ann Sharples. She gathered her information for the most part directly from family members. Her records are more recent than the biography by Donnan K. Hunter. Copies of her records were obtained from Marjorie Gracy.

Family Records of Marjorie Gracy. Marjorie's husband, James, is a grandson of Sarah Elizabeth Sharples. Although Marjorie attributes much of her information to Ruth Winchell, she has also done her own research, including cemetery viewings.
