1st Mrs. John King
(-1819/1820) |
1st Mrs. John KingResearch Notes: Although I have not seen it, Peggy Hill reports that the family Bible of Preston Leslie and Cattie Lee Sanderson Terry identifies the wife of John King's first five children as _____ Cox and notes they married in Virginia. Query whether Cattie Lee, who was a grandchild of John King and his wife Elizabeth Priest, would have known the name of John's previous wife. Still, her recollection deserves respect, at least as a lead. Thus far, however, no marriage record has been found to corroborate this family Bible. 1st married John KING. (John KING was born on 12 Feb 1777 in Virginia,6 died on 7 Jan 1842 in Barren County, Kentucky 6 and was buried in King Family Cemetery, Barren County, Kentucky 6.) |

Margaret "Peggy" Lester Hill is a great great granddaughter of John King and his second wife, Elizabeth Priest, through their daughter, Elizabeth Carrington King Sanderson.
