Joseph Stewart BARRY 1
Research Notes: Since Joseph Stewart Barry was the first husband of Sarah Jane King and thus not my ancestor, my research regarding him prior to their marriage has been minimal. However, I believe he was the son of Richard Barry and Nancy Smith. His namesake was Richard's father, Joseph Stewart Barry (Sr.). Those interested in this Barry line are advised to contact Joy Jackson <JJack12838@aol.com>. For the complete Barry lineage, consult Cheryl Bell's website, beginning at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cbell/fam00002.htm. Noted events in his life were: 1. Land Patent: 1840, Montgomery County, Illinois. 3 2. Deed: 1842, Morgan County, Missouri. 4 3. Estate Administration: 1842-1845, Morgan County, Missouri. 2 Joseph married Sarah Jane KING, daughter of John KING and 1st Mrs. John King, on 29 Jan 1833 in Barren County, Kentucky.1 (Sarah Jane KING was born about 1806 in Virginia 5 and died after 1880 in Vernon County, Missouri 6.) Marriage Notes: Barry, Joseph S. to Sally King. Bond dated 26 Jan 1833, with Jese Smith as Surety. Sally determined to be age 21 by oath of Joseph S. Barry. Married 29 Jan 1833 by John H. Baker. 1 |
