bullet  Research Notes:

Elizabeth is believed to be a daughter of Joseph Leffew because of (i) her age, (ii) being listed near other members of the family in the census records during the time she and her family lived in Grainger County, and (iii) the fact her son, James Kirby, was involved in the Estate of Joseph Leffew as an assignee of his widow, Sarah (see the 1841 deed under Events for Phebe Leffew). As to the latter point, since Elizabeth would have had a direct interest as an heir, one would have thought she would have also participated in the deed. If she retained her interest, when and to whom did she dispose of it?

Elizabeth was discovered by Danette Welsh, my Leffew research colleague, and she did most of the research into her family. Most of the family moved to Anderson County, Tennessee before the 1850 census.
