bullet  Research Notes:

Donnon was the 6th Dean of Christ Cathedral in Salina, Kansas, serving there from 1929 to 1933. The following biographical information appears in the cited history of Christ Cathedral:

"A graduate of General Theological Seminary, and a celibate Anglo-Catholic churchman, Dean Strong had been ordained a priest at twenty-eight years of age in June, 1924. He first served the Diocese of Western Missouri as rector of Christ Church, Warrensburg, and in his summers did supply work for the Anglican Church in Quebec, Canada.

[At this point, there is a summary of what transpired in the church during his tenure.]

In the summer of 1933, Dean Strong underwent surgery to remove his tonsils, which he thought might improve his declining health. However, after a church service on August 13, the Dean requested a leave of absence to spend a month or two in Evergreen, Colorado, where he thought the mountain air might speed his recuperation. During his time in Colorado, church services were maintained by Bishop Mize, with the assistance of The Reverend L. Mitchell.

In January, 1934, from a sanitarium in Denver for an "ailment of the lungs," Dean Strong sent his resignation to the Bishop. During the remaining years of his life, he lived at The Oakes Home, an Episcopal establishment, and filled in occasionally at area churches.

Dean Strong died September, 1938, at the age of forty-two. At the same hour of his funeral and burial in Denver, Colorado, Bishop Mize celebrated a Requiem Mass at the Catherdral for its departed Dean." 2
