bullet  Research Notes:

There is some question whether the given name of the Farris who married Mary King was George W. or John. The death certificate of Isaac Smith Farris names his parents as John Farris and Mary King. On the other hand, their marriage record shows his name to have been George W. The 1840 tax list for Barren County, Kentucky (1838-1839 are missing) shows a new Farris household headed by George W. Both George W. and Isaac, his father, are missing from the 1841 and later tax lists, suggesting they had by then moved to Andrew County, Missouri. Court records from 1842-1844 involving the Estate of John King, Dec'd, show him as Washington G. Farris and as no longer living in Kentucky. [The court records raise another question, i.e., whether he may have been more commonly known by his middle name.] I believe the marriage record, the 1840 tax list and the 1842-1844 court records support the conclusion that the informant for the death certificate of Isaac Smith Farris was mistaken. 1 3 4 5
