Dated 25 Feb 1864, Filed 10 Aug 1865, Bk Q:586
Sheriff's Sale to S. H. Legg; $123 for the SW1/4 of the SE1/4, the NW1/4 of the SE1/4 and the SW1/4 of the NE1/4, all of Sec. 27, Twp. 44, Range 14. [Sheriff was executing on two judgments that S. H. Legg, Administrator of the Estate of M. Barry, Dec'd, obtained against James F. Sheppard and Thomas A. Sheppard on 17 May 1862, one judgment being for $126.28 and the other being for $119.62. This is puzzling given that on 6 May 1862, James Sheppard seemingly prevailed in a action for specific performance against the Estate of Marcelmus Barry. Notwithstanding the acknowledgement by S. H. Legg, Administrator, that the Sheppards had fully performed and were entitled to a deed, perhaps the final payments were not made. See Estate Administration notes for Marcelmus Barry.]
