  Research Notes:

Son Jacob is the only child who has been found in the 1880 census. See the 1880 census event for Jacob. There he states his mother was born in Iowa. That seems rather doubtful since the family came to Indiana from Tennessee, unless David had an even earlier marriage by which he had Campbell and Charity, moved to Indiana and married for a second time to someone born in Iowa and had Jacob, Louisa and Jefferson, and then married for a third time to Anna. I think it is more likely the 1880 census is incorrect as to the state of her birth, just as it is with respect to the state of David's birth.

Tombstone reads "Elizabeth Bower 1806-1844, wife of David"

Elizabeth married David BOWERS, son of Andrew BOWER (Sr.) and Catherine, on 11 Oct 1825 in Grainger County, Tennessee.^{1 3} (David BOWERS was born in 1805-1806 in probably Grayson County, Virginia,^{4 5 6} died on 17 Aug 1869 in Shelby County, Indiana ⁷ and was buried in Blue River Cemetery, Shelby County, Indiana ³.)

David Bower and Elizabeth Dennis were married on 11 Oct 1825 by Thomas Brown, J.P. Bondsman per bond dated 8 Oct 1825 was William T. Carden. ¹
