bullet  General Notes:

The cited genealogical scrapbook is a must read for any descendant of Jesse. While I think Mildred got her early Lear lineage all wrong, from Jesse on down her work looks very solid.

See the General Note for John Lear (Sr.) for a description of Jesse's service in the Revolutionary War. That he became a Loyalist was seen by Mildred as a matter of devotion and loyalty to the Crown. Query. As a deserter from the 1st Virginia Regiment (something that Mildred may not have known), becoming a Loyalist may have just been the expedient thing to do. There's no question, however, that whatever the circumstances he went on to become a successful and beloved seafarer in his adopted country. Subsequent generations would return to his native country and also lead distinguished lives. 4

bullet  Burial Notes:

Thought to be buried in an unmarked grave next to his first wife, Elinor.
