  Research Notes:

Following the death of their father in 1852, Henry Jefferson Bowers and his brother James K. Bowers, went to live with their uncle David Bowers in Shelby County, Indiana. Henry was raised by his uncle David and appears as Jefferson Bowers in David's 1860 census household. His brother, James, was adopted by William N. Bennett, a neighbor of his uncle David.
