bullet  Research Notes:

It is unclear exactly what happened to George after the 1830 census. Tutt Lambert found a 7 Nov 1833 deed, whereby George and Sally sold land in Morgan Co., IN [Bk D:53]. Tutt also found a lawsuit, to wit, "Moses Slaughter vs. George Lambert & George Washington Lambert" [Morgan Co., IN Chancery Book B, Aug 1833-1839, Page 62], in which the Court on 16 Oct 1835 made a finding that George Lambert was not a resident of the state and thus publication was necessary to subject him to the jurisdiction of the Court. That would be consistent with George and Sally having moved after the 1833 sale. Tutt's research also reveals George was present in Madison Co., KY in 1839, for he signed for his share of the estate of his father, Matthias Lambert. Yet, George does not appear in the 1840 census for Madison Co., KY and Sarah appears as head of household in the 1840 census for Morgan Co., IN. Query.

Census records indicate there were daughters other than Hannah, but she is the only one who has been documented.

I find the Lamberts of KY and IN to be confusing. I recommend those interested in this line contact Tutt Lambert for further guidance. 2

George married Sarah LEAR, daughter of William LEAR and Unknown, about 7 Apr 1806 in Garrard County, Kentucky.1 (Sarah LEAR was born about 1778 in Virginia 6 and died after 1850 6.)

bullet  Marriage Notes:

George Lambert and Sally Lear, Bond No. 407 and License dated 7 Apr 1806, Bond by Matthias Lambert, no return, no consent.

[Tutt Lambert interprets the bond as consent by Matthias for his son, George, then under age 21, to marry Sally Lear. Tutt has George's year of birth to be about 1788, which would mean he was about 18 years old when he married Sally, who was about 28. Tutt also refers to a note by John Lear, Sally's older brother, verifying Sally was of legal age to marry. While the 1810 census is consistent with this year of birth for George, the 1820 and 1830 censuses show him to be older, even older than Sally. Query.] 1 2
