James STRONG 1
- Born: Abt 1837, Tennessee 1
Research Notes:
Jim Rolff declined to speculate which children listed in Samuel's 1850 household may have been Samuel's children, because it seemed to be a multi-family household. The subsequent emergence of the William Strong Family Bible makes such speculation easier. It seems likely that those who were not children of William were children of Samuel and Mary. Accordingly, I include James as a son, even though it means Mary would have been about 50 when he was born.
There is a record of a marriage of James Strong to Bettiniah Witt on 24 Jul 1852 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. The subject James seems a little young to have been the James who married in 1852. Note that Jim Rolff read his 1850 census age as 15, while I read it as 13. If it was 15, it seems more likely that he was the James who married in 1852. 2
