At pages 46-48 is a synopsis of the Carter Bible based on a viewing by at least one of the authors. The Bible, published in 1853, was originally owned and maintained by Sarah Elizabeth Carter Strong, wife of Samuel Clinton Strong. The Bible was passed down to Sarah Ann Strong White, then to Katie White McDonald, then to Kathryn McDonald Gardner of Bethel Park, PA, who was reported to be the Bible's owner at the time of the book's publication.
