[While the separate enumerations for Oscar and Ruth initially suggest the newlyweds were living apart, note the street address is the same for both of them. It appears the enumerator mistakenly omitted Ruth when the Joseph Cross household was surveyed. The mistake was apparently corrected by adding her name to the end of the listings, at the conclusion of the even street numbers. Note her entry is in a different handwriting than the preceding entries. That suggests Ruth, her German sense of record keeping having been offended by her omission, either caught up with the enumerator and added her information herself or stormed down to the census office and demanded some census official add her name.]
