bullet  Marriage Notes:

Margaret Lester Hill has seen the marriage bond and is of the opinion it was dated 9 Nov 1829. Martha Powell Reneau, on the other hand, has it dated 29 Nov 1829. Margaret's date fits with the 12 Nov 1829 marriage date provided by Reneau. Reneau appears to have realized there was a date inconsistency, but seems to have thought the problem was with marriage date, since that date was underscored. Instead, the problem seems to have been with her reading of the date of the bond. Reneau also states John King was the surety for the bond and that the marriage was performed by Jacob Lock. 1 8
