My own research was limited to the years James lived in Wayne County, Kentucky. Information about him and his family in Indiana comes from the records of Jan Vanatta. Since this is Edna Stockton's line, I would have liked to include contact information for one of her descendants who has continued her work. Unfortunately, I do not know of any such individual. Jan Vanatta, however, does have more information about this line.

1815, Capt. Cooper's Company: Hambleton, James; 1 white male 21+; 1 horse/mare, $30.

1816, Capt. George Hall's Company: Hambleton, James; 1 white male 21+; 1 horse/mare, $30.

1817, Capt. John Garner's Company: Hambleton, James; 1 white male 21+; 1 horse/mare.

1818: Tax Book missing.

1819: No listing.

1820, District 1: Hamilton, James; 1 white male 21+; 1 horse/mare, $35. [James was enumerated in the household of Hannah Hamilton in the 1820 census.]

1821, District 2: Hamilton, James; 115 acres H. Creek and 50 acres B. Creek; 1 white male 21+; 2 horses/mares; total value, $312.52. [This is the land of Charles Hamilton that had been taxed to his mother, Hannah Hamilton, in 1820. It appears it should have still been taxed to Hannah.]

1822: No entry.

1823, District 1: Hamilton, James H.; 1 white male 21+; 1 horse/mare, $50.

1824, District 2: Hamilton, James H.; 50 acres, B C; 1 white male 21+; 2 horses/mares, $150. [Grouped together with Hannah Hamilton and the remaining 115 acres on Beaver Creek. Total value for both James and Hannah was $500. Again, it appears all of the land should have been taxed to Hannah.]

1825, District 1: Hamilton, James; 1 white male 21+; 1 horse/mare, $50.

1826, Capt. Wm. Thomas' Company: Hamilton, James; 50 acres B. C. and 50 acres B. C.; 1 white male 21+; 2 horses/mares; total value, $200. [This land appears to have been James'.]

1827, Capt. Elisha Franklin's Company: Hamilton, James; 50 acres B Creek and 50 acres B Creek; 1 white male 21+; 3 horses/mares; total value, $200.

1828: Hamilton, James: 50 acres B. C. and 50 acres B. C.; 1 white male 21+; 4 horses/mares; total value, $195.

1829: Hamilton, James: 50 acres B. C. and 50 acres B. C.; 1 white male 21+; 4 horses/mares; total value, $200.

1830: No listing, but at the end his name appears in a list of 1830 delinquents with a note indicating he had moved to Indiana. He also does not appear in the 1830 census for Wayne County.

James H. Hamilton was one of the children of Hannah Hamilton living in Indiana who relinquished to their mother their interest in the land owned by their father, Charles Hamilton, at the time of his death. See Events for Hannah Henry Hamilton for full details.
