The "Mariah" of the 1850 census appears to be the "Artensy M." of the 1860 census. "Necy," which appears on her grave marker, appears to be derived from "Artensy."

The cemetery transcription of her grave marker shows "MALLICOAT Necy M Mar 11 1840 Aug 7 1874."

There is a second compilation of Dotson Cemetery information by Richard Holland, which is also cited. Richard has her name as Necy/Negy Mallicoat, wife of J. D. Mallicoat, and as having been born 1850 and as having died Aug, 1875. It is believed the first transcription is the more accurate of the two.
