Elizabeth LEFEW
(Abt 1793-After 1860) |
Elizabeth LEFEW 2
Another name for Elizabeth was Betty.1 Research Notes: Elizabeth is believed to be a daughter of Joseph Leffew because of (i) her age, (ii) being listed near other members of the family in the census records during the time she and her family lived in Grainger County, and (iii) the fact her son, James Kirby, was involved in the Estate of Joseph Leffew as an assignee of his widow, Sarah (see the 1841 deed under Events for Phebe Leffew). As to the latter point, since Elizabeth would have had a direct interest as an heir, one would have thought she would have also participated in the deed. If she retained her interest, when and to whom did she dispose of it? Noted events in her life were: 1. Census: 1840, Grainger County, Tennessee. 5 2. Census: 1850, Anderson County, Tennessee. 2 3. Census: 1860, Anderson County, Tennessee. 3 Elizabeth married John KIRBY on 25 Jul 1808 in Grainger County, Tennessee.1 (John KIRBY died before 1840 5.) |
