Parthena LEFFEW 1
- Born: 1817-1820, Grainger County, Tennessee 1 2
- Died: After 1860 2
Research Notes:
Parthena is believed to be a daughter of Elihu and Anna (Shelton) Leffew because (i) she witnessed the deed from Elihu to Harber (see Events for Elihu) and (ii) Harber and Anny/Anna sold 15 acres to Parthena on 5 Feb 1853 (Bk M, Pg 511).
Note that per Danette Welch, while a marriage bond and license were issued on 17 Apr 1833 for a marriage between Parthena and Lewis Campbell, there was no return. That no marriage occurred is supported by the fact Lewis seems to have married Peggy Washman on 5 Apr 1835. Also, Joseph Collins was the father of Parthena's daughter, Lucinda Jane Leffew, per a bastardy bond.
Per Sonjo Jo Collins, whose husband, Norman, is a descendant of Lucinda Jane Leffew, Jane was also known as Amanda Jane Leffew. As Jane Leffew, she married John Collins on 6 Apr 1862 in Grainger County. She was enumerated in the 1870 household of John Collins as Manda Leffew. Her tombstone at the Dotson Cemetery in Grainger County lists her name as Jane Leffew Collins.
