Hiram LEFFEW
(1814/1815-After 1880) |
Hiram LEFFEW 2
Research Notes: Hiram is believed to be Elisha's son because (i) William Smith was the bondsman for his marriage, (ii) he was the beneficiary of Elisha's directive to Wm E. Cocke regarding a land transfer, and (iii) because he was the first guardian for Elisha (see Events for Elisha for more detail on each of the latter points). Noted events in his life were: 1. Census: 1840, Grainger County, Tennessee. 5 2. Census: 1850, Grainger County, Tennessee. 2 3. Census: 1860, Grainger County, Tennessee. 3 4. Census: 1870, Grainger County, Tennessee. 6 5. Census: 1880, Grainger County, Tennessee. 4 Hiram married Rebecca OWENS on 14 Mar 1839 in Grainger County, Tennessee.1 (Rebecca OWENS was born in 1819-1821 in North Carolina and died after 1880 4.) Marriage Notes: At the online marriage record for Elijah Leffew and Biddy Teague appears, apparently by mistake, the marriage bond for Hiram. It shows that William Smith was his bondsman. 1 |
