Per Family Records of Beth Robinette, marriage records show Rachel was age 36 and a widow. It is believed she resumed using her maiden name when she was widowed and that her previous husband may have been a Hines, based upon the listing of a Richard H. Hines, age 5, under her name in the 1860 household of her brother, John. There also appears a Cynthia Bowers below her name, age 10/12, thus suggesting she was a daughter of Rachel. Query whether Cynthia's father was Rachel's previous husband or someone else. ^{2 4}
