Uriah LEPHEW 1 2
Noted events in his life were:
1. Deed: 1806, Rockingham County, North Carolina. 3
Deed No. 1152, Dated 27 Aug 1806, Bk M:156 A sale by Sheriff John Matlock to satisfy a judgment obtained by John Swindle against Uriah Lephew in the amount of 4 pounds, 9 shillings and 3 pence. Uriah's 40 acres adjoining Elias Lephew, Elizabeth Lephew and others, known as Lot No. 5 upon the division of Stephen Lephew's land after his death, were sold at public sale on 16 Aug 1806 for 2 pounds, 10 shillings to James Campbell. Witnessed by _ Gallaway and George Barnes.
[Query. It was Lot No. 6 that was drawn by Uriah Lephew. Lot No. 5 was drawn by Elias Lefew. This confusion may have been due to the way the division was described. For example, the lot drawn by Uriah was described as "No. 6. Joining said No. 5 - Drawn by Uriah Lephew." This seems to have been misread as Uriah having drawn Lot No. 5.]
