In a joint conveyance to George Carter for $90, Enoch Lephew and Elihu Lephew sold Lots No. 1 and 2, respectively, each a parcel of 40 acres on the waters of the Dan River which had passed to them in 1801 after the death of their father, Stephen Lephew, in accordance with an agreed upon division of his land. Witnesses were Alex Sneed and Adam Thomas.

Elias Lephew of Franklin County, Virginia sold Lot No. 5 consisting of 40 acres bounded by Josiah Lephew's lot on the west and Uriah Lephew's lot on the east, which descended to him in 1801 in accordance with an agreed upon division of the land of his father, Stephen Lephew, Dec'd, to Enoch Lephew of Rockingham County for $40. Witnessed by John Jones and Philip Maybery.

Enoch Lephew of Rockingham County sold 40 acres of the divided land of Stephen Lephew, Dec'd, known as Lot 5, which had originally been drawn by Elias Lephew, to John Pierce of Rockingham County for $20. Witnessed by Alex Sneed and William Jones.

[Query why Enoch would buy this land from Elias in Aug for $40 and sell it in Sep for $20.]

4. Census: 1820, Rockingham County, North Carolina. 5

Enoch Lephew: 1 white female over 45; 2 free colored males 16-26, 1 free colored male over 45; 1 free colored female 16-26.

5. Census: 1840, Franklin County, Virginia. 2

Leffew, Enock: 1 white male 20-30, 1 white male 60-70; 2 white females, 5-10, 1 white female 10-15, 2 white females 15-20, 1 white female 40-50.
