Catherine BOWERS 1
Research Notes: George G. Johnston does not list Catherine Bowers as one of the children of John Bowers and Mary "Polly" Majors. It appears he thought the reference to Catherine in Polk McAlvain's dairy was to John's wife, given family information about her name and the organization of the data, although he realized the dates could not be correct. I suspect the Catherine in Polk's diary is an infant child, although I can't explain why there isn't an entry for Polly Bowers. |
1 "Daybook of Polk McAlvain." Polk McAlvain was Louisa Matilda Bowers' Choctaw husband. The original daybook passed from Florence Thomas nee McAlvain, daughter of Polk and Louisa, to her daughter, Lucille Blackard nee Thomas, in 1990. George G. Johnston has viewed the daybook and taken notes and photographs of it. The author has a copy of his notes.
