"In the name of God Amen I Lavina Lear of the county of Culpeper being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory (for which I thank God) and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and being desirous of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with -- I give and bequeath the same in the following manner that is to say -- first of all I desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid 2ly I give my loving nephew Nathan Melich Lear the son of my sister Fanny fifty pounds to be (raised?) and (paid out of?) my Estate to him and and his Heirs forever. 3ly I give and bequeath to my beloved Father and mother my too cows to be freely enjoyed by them and the longest lives of theirs and at their desease it is my will and desire that they return to my sister Fanny. 4thly and lastly I give to my sister Fanny all the remainder of my Estate of what nature or kind soever it may be freely and (undisputably?) enjoyed by her and her heirs and assigns forever and I do at the same time injoyn it on my said sister not let my beloved mother suffer as long as she may live or so long as there may be any of my estate remaining and I do hereby acknowledge this to be my last will and Testament revoking all other or former wills by me me heretofore -- In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal -- Twenty second day of January one thousand eight hundred and nine.
