Since Jane was married before William Coffman and Rachel Majors married, William was probably not her father. She appears to have lived with her unmarried mother in the household of her grandfather, Thomas Majors, in the 1870 census. Also, note that in the 1910 census Rachel stated she had six children. Only by counting the young children in the 1870 household of Thomas Majors can you come up with six children.
