bullet  Research Notes:

Since this is not my direct line, my research has been limited to a review of the Wayne Co., KY records. Those interested in this family and their descendants after they moved to Arkansas and then to Missouri should contact Lynda Lovejoy. Another source is Pat Franks.

It has been asserted that in addition to the children listed, there may have been two more children, to wit: Thomas F. Jones and Wesley Jones. At this time, evidence is lacking to support these assertions.

bullet  Noted events in his life were:

1. Tax List: 1811-1819, Wayne County, Kentucky. 5

[Pre-marriage tax lists were not reviewed for Abner. Such may contain information that would help narrow the range for his date of birth.]

1811: Jones, Abner; 1 white male 21+; 2 horses/mares.

1812: Unreadable

1813, Capt. Cooper's Company: Jones, Abner; 150 acres, Beaver Creek; 1 white male 21+; 1 horse/mare.

1814, Capt. Cooper's Company: Jones, Abner; 400 acres, Beaver Cr; 1 white male 21+.

1815: No entry noted (compiler error?).

1816: No entry noted (compiler error?).

1817, Capt. John Garners' Company: 61 acres, B Creek; 1 white male 21+; 2 horses/mares; total value, $345.

1818: Tax Book missing.

1822-1834: No entries noted. [A good clue as to his whereabouts during these years is the fact several children were married in Pulaski Co., KY during 1831-32. Also, note Abner does not appear in the 1830 census for Wayne Co., KY and that he did not begin performing marriages there until 1833.]

1835: Jones, Abner; 114 acres, B C; 1 voter, 1 white male 21+; 3 horses/mares; total value, $215. [The land is described as being originally surveyed and owned by Charles Hamilton. Query whether this wasn't Hannah Hamilton's land. Perhaps Abner and Rebecca lived with Hannah upon their return to Wayne County and he was mistakenly taxed. Before and after, this land seems to have been taxed to Joseph Hamilton.]
