bullet  Research Notes:

The Harriet Scrivner who married William Britton is identified in Doris' book as a daughter of John Scrivner. Infomation subsequently provided by Sheldon Jones establishes she was a widow when she married William Britton and that her maiden name was Clark, probably the daughter of John J. Clark and Elizabeth Suttles. His evidence is that a number of her children by William Britton (John Clark Britton, Samantha "Mattie" Britton and Fannie Britton) state their mother's maiden name was Clark at the time of their respective marriages. Sheldon does not know the Scrivner to whom Harriet was previously married. Eli is the only known prospect. 2 4
