Note that Gottlieb's Death Certificate states he was married at the time of his death. That does not seem to have been the case, unless he had an unknown wife who never made it to America. Might that also be an explanation of why he never married Augusta Rosalie Pepping nee Baerwinkel? Note that Augusta gave her married name to their children.
